Petronas, a Fortune 500 energy company, required a sophisticated, automated Identity Management system capable of handling diverse identity sources and complex process automation across 60,000 users and 60 business units. Manual provisioning at this scale was no longer sustainable.

Managing identity at Petronas's scale presented significant complexity. The organisation needed to streamline user provisioning and de-provisioning, synchronise employee data from SAP and Active Directory, automate service ticket creation for IT tasks such as laptop issuance, and manage chargebacks for new and deleted accounts. Heterogeneous systems and sprawling business units made a unified approach essential.
Kloudynet deployed Microsoft FIM 2010 R2 as the core automation engine, building custom C# rules extensions to implement bespoke business logic — enabling significant cost savings by avoiding full FIM/MIM licensing. The solution integrated with SAP, Active Directory, ITSM platforms, and SQL vendor systems, and was scaled across all 60 business units. Custom logic handled edge cases specific to Petronas's complex organisational structure.
The deployment dramatically reduced manual effort across IT operations, improving efficiency and freeing staff to focus on higher-value work. Process automation eliminated human error in provisioning and de-provisioning cycles. Significant cost savings were achieved by avoiding additional licensing fees. Identity management was centralised across all previously disparate systems — from onboarding to exit, fully automated.
